Dengensha nut feeders are provided with a standard one-for-one control sequence. Each time a nut is fed to the lower electrode, a replacement nut is blown to the head assembly.
In some robotic, high feed rate, or large-sized nut applications, it may be advisable to maintain a queue of nuts in the head assembly at all times. This will ensure nut availability for feeding at any time, and will reduce wear to the nut stopper in the head assembly. This is accomplished by replenishing the nuts to the feed unit independently of the standard one-for-one nut feed sequence.
In robotic applications, where the weld cell is controlled by a supervisory PLC control, the welding sequence must wait for the one-for-one replenishment cycle to complete before the next start feed can be executed. Valuable cycle time can be lost due to waiting for the completion of the nut replenishment. In this case, the nut stack will allow for continuous feeding without having to wait for the one-for-one nut replenishment, thus cycle time will be increased.
In the large-sized nut applications, excessive damage can occur to the nut stopper as the large nuts directly impact the nut stopper. To avoid this excessive damage, the nut stack option allows for the accumulated nuts to absorb the excessive impact shock caused by the new nut being delivered, thus extending the life of the nut stopper and ensuring flawless feeding.
The simple installation of an inductive proximity sensor on the vinyl tubing of the feed unit and a quick change to the nut feeder PLC control program allows for the customer to determine the quantity of nuts accumulated in the queue of the feed unit.
The nut stack conversion option is designed for easy installation in the field by the customer's skilled maintenance personnal or a trained Dengensha America technician. For one low cost, one proximity sensor and cable per nut feed unit, and a new PLC program is provided.
The following steps are required for the conversion:
1) Drill four holes in the vinyl tube.
2) Install the inductive sensor.
3) Connect the sensor cable to the PLC.
4) Download the new PLC program provided.
Within minutes, you have upgraded your nut feeder to allow for increased cycle time and increased life expectancy of your Dengensha nut feed unit.
