Upper Electrode Nut Cover Electrode Assembly Parts ACT Alloy Pins

ACT Alloy Pins

Basic Information
Because stainless steel requires an additional insulator and ceramic is generally too brittle, Dengensha America Corp. wanted to find a superior material.  ACT is that material.  This surface allows the pin to be used without additional insulation and has been shown to outlast KCF and ceramic coated pins nearly 2 to 1 and is far less expensive than ceramic composition pins, providing the lowest possible cost per nut weld.

Features
  • High quality steel is alloyed with chromium
  • Superior electrical insulation characteristics
  • The most precise dimensions can be obtained
  • Insulation layer is virtually pore-free (profilometer reading of 35 Ra)
  • Insulating film is metallurgically stable up to 2000° F
  • Insulating film is uniformly distributed throughout the shape of the pin
  • Overall strength of the pin is at least 50Rc
  • Film hardness is more than 2200 Vickers

ACT Alloy Pins and Electrodes

Benefits
  • Optimum strength and durability result in the longest pin life
  • There is no arcing across the electrode, workpiece, or nut
  • Spatter accumulation across the thread of weld nuts is virtually eliminated
  • High density of insulation surface prevents deterioration
  • Uniform coating results in longer life at wear points such as corners and transitions
  • Concentricity of weld nut location is consistently achieved

Options
  • Combination pins are designed to work with two different nut sizes: TP-M06/08 and TP-M08/10
  • Various special shape locator pin designs are available based on your application needs
  • Dimensions for your locator pin application can be customized
  • ACT can be used for other welding location applications such as insulation sleeves for bolt welding
  • ACT can be used in welding fixtures for non-conductive workpiece datum locators
  • Threads (male and female) can be machined into the ACT alloy for use in robotic applications
